Point Pelee Boardwalk, Pelee Island National Park

Glos Associates provided the design and engineering services for the completion of the Point Pelee National Park floating Boardwalk. The existing Boardwalk was reaching the end of its useful life as a pedestrian link to the unique natural environment found in the National Park. Glos Associates worked on a new long lasting, wheelchair accessible, and ecologically sensitive solution for the floating boardwalk. The engineering design introduced floating aluminum pontoons complete with a rough sawn white cedar boardwalk for visitors to the National Park. The boardwalk is a barrier-free 1.4 kilometer long path thru the marsh area of the park.

The new boardwalk was designed and installed with careful consideration to not disturb the unique eco-system present in the marsh area of the park. The final design and completed installation was considered a success by Parks Canada and the many visitors to the park. The boardwalk was completed in the spring of 2011.
